Having the video camera trained on the plate and base umpire was easy. Fred just set up near the 1st and 3rd base line. He said he got some good shots.
Plus, the second day, son Brendan happened to be on the hill. He was mad at the bottom half of the 1st inning as he was thrown out at 2B. He thought, of course, he was safe.
Which made him throw harder. He said he didn’t care of his arm hurt. He just wanted to get people out…which he did for four innings, allowing two runs, one of them unearned. But, all in all, it was a good tournament, the team winning two, losing two.
well, it was so much fun. of course I was nervous at first: showing up on the ball diamond with teams ready to play the first tourney game. And Cyndy, Fred’s mom, said that each parent would have to sign a release.
While apprehensive, thinking it would take some doing, it turned out to be okay. Parents gladly signed after a quick info: video to help umpires.
And, while it took Fred a couple weeks to get the finished product on the table, it looks real fine. No, I don’t like my voice-over but his will be quickly forgotten as viewers key in on umpires in action.
