Having the video camera trained on the plate and base umpire was easy. Fred just set up near the 1st and 3rd base line. He said he got some good shots.

Plus, the second day, son Brendan happened to be on the hill. He was mad at the bottom half of the 1st inning as he was thrown out at 2B. He thought, of course, he was safe.

Which made him throw harder. He said he didn’t care of his arm hurt. He just wanted to get people out…which he did for four innings, allowing two runs, one of them unearned. But, all in all, it was a good tournament, the team winning two, losing two.

j0400937 We are just getting started in the world of blogging but are sure looking forward to sharing the great game of baseball with fans around the world!

My view, as an active umpire, is usually through the mask. But as a dad, I also enjoy the game from the stands. My goal with this blog is to provide a resource for umpires – and help fans understand why an ump may make a certain call.

Feel free to ask a question, make comments, or share a war story. I’m looking forward to getting to know you!

Let’s GO YARD! Ron
